This is the yarn my mom and sister and I bought at the Factory Outlet Sale in Listowel. I can foresee many, many knitted dishcloths!!

Here is the Jessica, named for my niece who now owns it. It's one of a kind (OOAK).

Woo Hoo!

One of the items from my shop - Vintage And Such - made it to the Front Page of Etsy! It was the Vintage Sewing Needle Holder/Book and, it was part of a group of items chosen by the admin staff of Etsy, which I think is cool.

For those of you who may not realize it, this is a pretty HUGE thing to happen.

Even Better, the Sewing Needle Holder/Book SOLD! I'm kinda sad to be parting with it.

* New * Picasa Web Album

I thought I'd try Picasa to store photos of much of the fabric, lace, ribbons, trim, patterns - - and such - - that I have available, but that I simply haven't yet had time to add to my Patterns And Such shop on Etsy.

Today I added some fabric photos - these pieces of fabric are each about 30-39 inches long, and 5-9 inches wide. Many are designer fabrics though most do not have the edge with the words and some do.

FAST?

Really?

yep - on Etsy, this team is the Fiber Artists [Street Team] - and we work with, well, FIBER!


Joining this group, I've been introduced to new terms I was not familiar with - - one being ROVING. I heard it mentioned a lot and grew to learn what it is.


ROVING is created when wool has been washed and combed and carded. It looks all soft and fluffy and just makes you want to touch it! Roving is what you spin on a spinning wheel (or other method) to make your yarn. Many times roving will be dyed beautiful colours too!

I'm not a spinner. I doubt I'll ever be a spinner. But I do like the look of roving!

Free Pattern - Patons Canadiana Slippers

Back on May 30th, I promised that if I could find the classic vintage slippers pattern I've always used, that I would post it here.

Well I found it.

And I scanned it.

And now I'm posting it!

 

Everyone has their favourite patterns.

For me, they are patterns from back in the 60s and 70s - free patterns by Patons for Canadiana yarn. I think I knit this slipper pattern exclusively for years! I didn't knit anything else. Just slippers.
