Caribbean Memories

The ocean ... waves of blues, turquoise and greens.

I checked out the websites and saw that I was able to bring my knitting needles along on the plane - great, I thought! and I picked out a pair of straight needles that I could part with, just in case.
;-) ... I knew I had several pairs in this size.

At the airport, we discovered that they needed to go into checked luggage. [sigh] So much for knitting on the plane!

Instead, I knit while sitting in the almost-sun. It was fairly cloudy but who knew that you could get a burn through clouds? Yes, you can.

So here are the dishcloths that I knit while on vacation. As I prepare the photos, I'll be adding these Caribbean Memories dishcloths to my Etsy shop.

This dishcloth was knit on the last day there - while the dark clouds threatened rain and the ocean turned darker shades of blue with just hints of turquoise and green ... ... and that's why I added a strip of variegated colour to the middle of this cloth. It's one of a kind!

Oh, and these photos were snapped on the stucco half-wall of the hotel staircase (not in the sand as they may appear).

Watch for all of these dishcloths to be available at ennadoolf.etsy.com!

Fair Isle Mittens to match the Tam

I made a pair of fair isle mittens to match the tam I made last month!

Remember the tam ...

The tam was my first attempt at fair isle knitting so I thought I'd jump right in and use part of the fair isle pattern and put them on mittens!

The hat is now owned by my mom ... and I've sent the mittens to her as a surprise! I hope she likes them!

Put That in the Rearview Mirror

Has anyone heard this new catch phrase?
"Put that in the rearview mirror"

It refers to something you want to put behind you, or finished projects. aka FOs in knitting terms.

I heard it today. I rather like it today. I wonder how soon I will tire of it?

Like "too much on my plate" - I was tired of that one the first time I heard it!

I wonder what other new catch phrases are popping up this year?

Here's a FO (finished object) from my etsy shop.

Fair Isle Tam - completed!

The Fair Isle Tam is completed!

:)

I am kind of pleased with how the colours turned out.

You may recall, this is my first attempt at Fair Isle knitting.

In fact, it was my first New Year's resolution to learn it!

Of course, I got a head start on this project back in November when Patons' blog had a KAL (knit-a-long).

Um, there are a couple of boo boos in this finished tam.

Nothing that will impact the wearing of it, of course.

Just cosmetic.

If you're on facebook, come on over and comment if you see what the boo boos are!
Be sure to become a fan of my page while you're there. :)

Super Powers

If you could have a super power, what would it be?

There's a tv show on where Julia Dimon travels to Bogotá Columbia and during this episode she says that the super power she would most like to have is language. I agree! I would love to know any language that is needed to communicate whereever I am in, and in whatever country!

Before I was five, I spoke Dutch fluently and then lost most of it when I learned English. Luckily I can still understand a lot of it! I took the obligatory French in elementary and high school and even a little bit in college. High school offered German and Latin so I took those too. Looking back, its too bad they didn't offer Spanish - "dos cervesa por favor" will only take you so far!

What super power would YOU like to have?
