Friday Fun..a Beatles tribute

40 years ago today.

January 30, 1979.

The Beatles rooftop performance at Apple Records in London England.

Today. 40 years later.

January 30, 2009.

A tribute to the Beatles rooftop performance - in London Ontario Canada: on the rooftop of Coffee Culture, Yuri Pool and 4 other band members recreated the performance of 40 years ago, playing the same set list. It was snowy and cold but we braved the chilly weather all bundled in our scarves, hats and gloves, to take in the performance that lasted approximately 30 minutes or so. Great way to spend our lunch break!

Here is the link to the photos taken by the London Free Press: click here (Note the 4 young people who apparently walked across several rooftops to reach their vantage point on the roof next door.)

Need a scarf to keep you warm? Then check out the scarves available in my etsy shop.

Thanks on Thursday..survey results (wine)

No sooner was Christmas 2008 all wrapped up and I started thinking of gifts I'd love to get ready for Christmas 2009. I have loads of ideas, and have seen some great patterns and instructions, so now I have lots of gift ideas for family and friends.

My dilemma is how to get information from my family and friends without them finding out what I have in mind for them? For instance? What if I need to know their favourite colour? or their glove size? or their favourite wine?

Solution! I will send out random emails with random questions! And as long as they respond, they may be providing me with information for their gift. Perfect!

So today, many many THANKS to those who responded to my first random question! It was What is your favourite wine? And here are the responses, in no particular order and with no identifying features (minimal editting):
  • I actually like all wines - I really don't have a preference
  • I do enjoy a white wine with dinner
  • white wine with fruity flavours
  • most reds but merlot or baco noir are both really good
  • white such as Pinot Grigio and Jackson Triggs Sauvignon Blanc
  • I did like the rose one - Zinfandel Blush maybe
  • Kittling Ridge White Zinfandel

So there you go, great variety eh!

I haven't thought of the next question yet. It's cold and snowy outside, so maybe that will inspire something. Stay tuned..

Wednesday Wonder - where is spring?

Another snowstorm today.

So I wonder when spring will come?

It got me to looking at some of the photos from my garden. Not that I'm a great gardener - I'd much prefer if there was no need to maintain it. If only the plants knew which ones I like and the others can just leave.

Here are some I like. I have these photos framed in my house.

The first is a Rose of Sharon and the other, I think is a Primrose.

And if you'd like to purchase one of these photos, I can list it in my etsy shop for you - just contact me for details or check out my shop: ennadoolf.etsy.com

Teams on Tuesday - Team ESST

Teams. Team spirit. Teamwork is working together — even when apart.

Tuesdays are a good day to talk about the teams I am on. Many are teams with members I've never met - we 'know' each other by email and other types of correspondence. Yet we've accomplished things together that were successful and have plans for more.

Today's Team: Team ESST (Etsy Supply Street Team)

Etsy.com encourages its members to join teams - it provides a social network and allows team members to collaborate on marketing initiatives to increase sales. As the team name says, the Team ESST shops carry supplies - from the unique & unusual to your basic crafting items. We are here to supply your crafting needs.
Once I was established on Etsy with my first shop, ennadoolf, it became clear that if I started adding patterns and supplies to that shop, that soon it would be difficult to find the handmade items. So PatternsAndSuch was born. I then discovered Team ESST. It was shortly after the Yart Sale had taken place on Etsy - what a successful sales event that was! It spread through the Etsy community like wildfire. And where did it start? Team ESST. We have dedicated volunteers who work hard to keep our team moving forward - our team leader is Carla of CarDonCreativeSupply (thanks for all your hard work, Carla!)

Here is a sampling of the supplies you'll find in our Team ESST shops:

A Sunny Weekend at Last!

We finally had some sun here in southwestern Ontario this weekend. Yes, it was still cold, but it was nice to see the sun for a bit!

I need to get some photos taken for my Etsy store. One in particular, a men's hat, just wasn't showing the colour correctly. And I needed a sunny day because I just wasn't getting the colours right with photo editting software.

Here are the before and after shots:

What do you think? I love the improvement! The new photos show a much truer representation of the colours for this hat.

Oh, and if you want to see how it looks in my shop, here is the link! (Click here)

I am a Cancer

So today I got one of those forwarded emails from my sister about zodiac signs. So I read mine:

CANCER - The Protector (June 21 - July 22) Moody, emotional. May be shy. Very loving and caring. Pretty/handsome. Excellent partners for life. Protective. Inventive and imaginative. Cautious. Touchy-feely kind of person. Needs love from others. Easily hurt, but sympathetic.

For those of you that know me...is this me? I think the first word - Moody - for sure! Oh, and pretty! LOL

random beginning...

My first post should be random, should it not? or r-anne-dom, I guess.

I've had this book sitting around for a while because there is a poem in it I want to keep. So what better place to keep it than here! and it certainly shows my views on all the maintenance required for gardening. Contrary to the poem's ending, I do prefer my lily of the valley, trilliums, and lilacs. Plus, I like that the word "fambly" is used!

The Young Gardener
by Caroline Russell Bispham

I like the dandelion best;
He wears green trowsers and a vest
To match. I'd know him anywhere
Because he's got such yellow hair.

He stands up very straight and proud
With all his fambly in a crowd.
He's got a lot of enemies,
The gardener, Dad, and if you please

My little bit of a sister Clair
Blows off his granny's old, grey hair!
I wonder why they worry him
He looks so gay and brave and trim!

I've got a garden of my own
Where all the flowers there were sown
By my old self; but then -- oh, dear --
My dandelion can't grow here.

My dandelions made of gold
Are only weeds, so I am told.
I like the tulips and the rest
But, oh, I love my weed the best!
