Teams on Tuesday - Knit a Poem

As I said in an earlier post, I signed up to knit a square for the Knit a Poem project by the Poetry Society in England. (here is my earlier post)

A knitted blank square is pretty boring - but essential for the completed project!

All those blanks are needed to separate the words and to go 'round the outside of the poem!

So, here is my knitted square:

Yep.

Boring. :)

I mailed it off to England, so I wish it a speedy journey.

And I can't wait to see what the completed poem looks like!

Teams on Tuesday - Knit a Poem

Knit a Poem?

Yes!

I will be knitting at least one square for the Knit A Poem being completed in England by the Poetry Society.

Read all about it here or on the EtsyKnitters blog!
No, my square won't have a pattern like the dishcloth above -- and it will be a bit bigger, too. :)

random beginning...

My first post should be random, should it not? or r-anne-dom, I guess.

I've had this book sitting around for a while because there is a poem in it I want to keep. So what better place to keep it than here! and it certainly shows my views on all the maintenance required for gardening. Contrary to the poem's ending, I do prefer my lily of the valley, trilliums, and lilacs. Plus, I like that the word "fambly" is used!

The Young Gardener
by Caroline Russell Bispham

I like the dandelion best;
He wears green trowsers and a vest
To match. I'd know him anywhere
Because he's got such yellow hair.

He stands up very straight and proud
With all his fambly in a crowd.
He's got a lot of enemies,
The gardener, Dad, and if you please

My little bit of a sister Clair
Blows off his granny's old, grey hair!
I wonder why they worry him
He looks so gay and brave and trim!

I've got a garden of my own
Where all the flowers there were sown
By my old self; but then -- oh, dear --
My dandelion can't grow here.

My dandelions made of gold
Are only weeds, so I am told.
I like the tulips and the rest
But, oh, I love my weed the best!

Ignore the engine light?

I was told by many to ignore it
That it didn't mean a thing
And when the engine light is lit
Just to carry on my driving

But the engine light glowed on
So to the dealership I went
They'd switch it off - done!
And came back when they said it can't!

Sigh, a lemon's what I had
And Meringue's the name I gave
Not angry or mad
But would prefer the pie to have!
(okay, not quite a rhyme, but pretty close ... now let's continue ...)

A happy ending has been found
Her name is not deserved
The engine light's been doused
A new sensor switch installed

...you're right, that last one has no rhyming - but that's the end of the tale, so deal with it. :)

Someone thought my last post should be a poem and requested one, so this is it. The one and only poem I'm going to attempt!

Teams on Tuesday - Knit a Bridge

A bridge?

Yes!

Last year I helped with the Knit a Poem project in the United Kingdom and sent a knitted square as my contribution.

This year, I've learned about the KNIT CamBRIDGE project and it's right here in Ontario!

A good friend gave me a UFO (un-finished object) that was to be an afghan many years ago ... and there were quite a few squares already knitted up.  Some of those squares have been sent off to be made into other afghans and now the remainder will go to Cambridge for this Knit a Bridge project!

I'm hoping I'll be able to visit the bridge in person in September!

AND, if you are in Ontario and would like to take part in World Wide Knit In Public Day June 19th and help break a Guinness record, get more info here!
